Blessed with the gift of writing and storytelling, Danese Turner has the unique ability to craft language and movement to bring any vision or concept to life. She has over 30 years of corporate communication and instructional design experience and is also a passionate college professor.
Danese serves as the Director of Worship Arts and is humbled to lead nearly 200 youth and adults who minister through dance, step, mime, pageantry, and African drums. She also leads Spirit and Truth Adult Dance Ministry, and serves as Assistant Leader of Glorious! Pageantry Ministry. Since 2003, Danese has been the writer, producer, and co-director of the much-anticipated annual Spring Production presented by the Turner Chapel Worship Arts Ministries. Writing a unique and riveting show each year, Danese is not afraid to bring relevant and “touchy” subjects to the stage, because the message is always positive, redemptive, and life-changing. In October 2009, Danese was selected as Turner Chapel’s Layperson of the Year and elected as Turner’s first “Transforming Leadership” Award Recipient in March 2013.
Danese was officially licensed as a Minister of Dance in 2006 through the Eagles International Training Institute (EITI) and founded by Apostle Pamela Hardy. In October 2012, Danese graduated from the Eagles International Torah Studies (EITS) program, which looks at the Scriptures through the Hebrew lens. She also taught in The Eagles Network (TEN) Worldwide program for several years training others on the Biblical Theology of dance and worship.
In 2006, Danese founded The Purpose & Power Connection, and has written and produced two independent stage productions, Blood Relatives (Rialto Theater, 2010) and DEATH BY DANCING (Riverside EpiCenter, 2015). The latter was inspired by the true story of the Rhythm Night Club fire of 1940 in Natchez, MS, where Danese’s father lost both of his parents-in the fire. Danese's grandfather, Ed Frazier, was the owner of the Club. This fire is the 4th largest assembly fire in the U.S. Danese had big plans to honor the 80th Anniversary of this historic event by bringing back DEATH BY DANCING in 2020, but…the world changed. In 2021, she decided to do a virtual spin on the play and present a dramatic table reading of the show and stream it via Zoom Webinar on the actual anniversary date of the fire, April 23rd. Danese also writes personalized poems for special occasions and facilitates “Power Session” workshops to help churches and ministries grow and go deeper in creative worship.
Danese is a Charter member of Alpha Alpha Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, which serves Paulding County, GA. At Turner Chapel, she is active with the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math) Team, which she co-founded with her daughter, De’ja in 2014, a member of the Leadership Commission, tasked with identifying and providing training opportunities for Turner Chapel leaders, and is also part of the Worship Leadership Team.
Danese is married to her soulmate, Andrew Turner, and is the mother of Déja, and “Mama D” to Christopher (Teree), Steven (Jessica), Jamesia, and Jahlisa (Byrron). She is also the proud “GiGi” to Caeden, Natalie, Michael Andrew, Matthew, Jenell, and Brylee.
